Information for Contractors

The County of Kern declared a State of Emergency regarding the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
pandemic on March 16, 2020. Due to this, Kern Behavioral Health & Recovery Services (KernBHRS) has moved
to an essential-staffing model until further notice. Many County buildings will be closed during this period.
KernBHRS understands the anxiety, stress and uncertainty that this situation is causing for individuals across
our community and beyond. While we will be modifying our services and staffing levels, several of our sites will
remain open to continue to help connect individuals with needed behavioral health and substance use disorder
treatment and services.

KernBHRS SERVICE/SITE AVAILABILITY

  • Our 24-hour Crisis Hotline will remain fully staffed and operational at 1-800-991-5272 to help residents work through any anxiety and uncertainty they may be experiencing during this time.

  • Adult Outpatient Services will be available at both 5121 Stockdale Hwy. and 2525 N. Chester Ave., both located in Bakersfield.

  • Children’s Services will be available at 3300 Truxtun Ave., Bakersfield.

  • Substance Use Disorder Services will be available at 1401 L St., Bakersfield, or through the 24-hour SUD Access Line at 866-266-4898

  • Immediate behavioral health services are available at the Mary K. Shell Health Center, located at 2151 College Ave., Bakersfield. OR at the Ridgecrest CSU, 1141 Chelsea St., Ridgecrest

 

CONTINUED PARTNERSHIP

 

As this situation continues to evolve, KernBHRS will help our providers develop their Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP). We plan to have weekly call-in meetings to provide answers to any questions you may have. A calendar invite with the meeting dates will be sent.
